Front Street um 1900
The tall building, second from the right, was the historic John Xavier Woods Building. Built in 1896, the building remained standing for over 100 years until 2018 when it was demolished after being deemed structurely unsafe and a bio-hazard. The building served at the first formal Masonic Hall Lodge 13 until the Elks Building across from Standing On A Corner Park was built in 1912. The JX Woods Building was the last remaining 1890's commercial building on Front/First Street. JX Woods, a local business man, also has Woods Canyon Lake and Jack's Canyon named in his honor.
