New Palais 1902
From 1863 to 1866, master builder Conrad Kraus from Mainz erected the "New Palais" for Grand Duke Ludwig IV and his wife Alice on the site of today's Georg Büchner Platz. The building replaced the Old Palais on Luisenplatz as the princely residence. The New Palace burned down on the night of the fire in 1944 except for the surrounding walls, which were later demolished.
