Ernst-Ludwig-Straße
Ernst-Ludwig-Straße leads from Ludwigsplatz to Ernst-Ludwigs-Platz.
Here stands the White Tower, a defence tower of the medieval city fortifications, which became a bell and clock tower after the demolition of the city wall in the 18th century. A silver bell hung in it, which always rang when a member of the princely house had died. Today, the tower is a landmark of Darmstadt's city centre and is used by the Darmstadt Photo Club for exhibitions.
