Karolinenplatz 1904
The art and natural history collections of the landgraves and grand dukes form the basis of today's Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt (HLMD). With holdings from the fields of art, cultural, and natural history, the Landesmuseum is today one of the few universal museums in the world. In close consultation with Grand Duke Ernst-Ludwig and Alfred Messel, the building was designed specifically for the diverse collections and was opened in 1906.
