View along Lindenstraße um 1920
When I was young, there was an inn at Am Lindle number 5. The town chronicle mentions a restaurant “Zur Linde” that was operated by a Jewish family from 1754 onwards.
Later files report a coffee business, from which the alley’s name “Kaffigasse” has been derived. I knew the inn and sometimes stopped for a bite. It was closed in 1905.
I also remember the house at the corner with the lime tree – it was built in 1767. The store selling watches and jewellery that is still there was managed as a family business since 1857 and was rented out to their successors in 1990.
