Blankenhorn Gardens um 1940

Please feel free to enter the gardens. There is no gate, they are always open to the public.

The two sycamore boulevards to your right and left were already there when my relatives had the gardens laid out in the symmetric style of French horticulture.

The little gazebo right by the playground was also constructed then. A monument has been dedicated to my memory.

Thanks to the sculptural craftship of Müllheim artist Thomas Egel, I am sitting comfortably at the front end of the gardens, with grapes in my hand and a book in my lap.

Being an honorary citizen, they even granted me a pedestal with a golden inscription. The small angular basin in front of me stems from the time of the first gardens, too.

The area where I am sitting, however, is now in the shade of a giant mammoth tree – on old pictures, when it was still young, you will find it to be somewhat meagre.
