Lindenhof

An old prominent estate suddenly turned from being rural to bordering the new transport axis is the Lindenhof that had been built by Müllheim citizen Friedrich Fischer in 1792.

With its wide gate leading into a big enclosed courtyard, the Lindenhof still is one of the most beautiful and most impressive buildings of Müllheim.

The Blankenhorn family gained ownership of the property when Nikolaus Blankenhorn married into the Fischer family in 1806.

Nikolaus and the Fischer daughter Maria Elisabeth were the grandparents of Adolph Blankenhorn, who is accompanying us on this stroll.

Further west, the Werderstraße also features architectural sites.

Neighbouring the Lindenhof, the villa of former mayor and Reichstag member Dr Ernst Blankenhorn was erected around 1880 – it now houses a medical practice.

Apart from the architecture, with its balanced neoclassic proportions, the old magnolia trees in the front garden still testify the bourgeois noblesse of this property.
