Elisabethenheim
The adjoining building to the right, Hauptstraße 149, is the oldest wing of the Elisabethenheim.
The impressive estate of Albert and Elisabeth Blankenhorn encompassed not only the compound of 2,745 square metres but also a park and garden of 4,646 square metres, including a greenhouse, as well as co-ownership of a spring property in the Eichwald forest.
The Blankenhorns ordered for a rest home to be established here for Müllheim citizens after their death.
The 1949 testament denominated the Association of Protestant Inner Missions in Baden as their heir. The conditions: the rest home was to be established in their former residential building.
No part whatsoever of the realty was to be liquidated. Another stipulation regarded care of the family grave on the old Müllheim cemetery.
The former maid of the Blankenhorns, Marie Wolfsberger, was given an apartment in the house free of charge for the rest of her life, including maintenance to be paid by the heirs.
