Friedensplatz 2004

The redevelopment of Friedensplatz has restored the visual axis between the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt and the city centre/White Tower and the original square design. The spacious square is used for city festivals and events, as an exhibition space for large-scale open-air productions, a stage for street theatre/art and culture in public spaces.

Tip: A gate in the castle wall leads directly to the castle moat, an oasis of peace in the middle of the city centre.

By the way: the square has a full basement, or actually the "roof" of the castle garage from the 1960s with 4,200 sqm.
