Palais Vischer 1935
The stately building, which today houses the town's museum, was built in 1787 - 1791 by the head of the raft and timber trading company Johann Martin Vischer according to the plans of the Stuttgart ducal chief building director Reinhard Fischer. Some of the interiors have been preserved in their original condition and provide an insight into the upscale living culture of the time. In 18 rooms, the museum shows interesting facts about the history of the town, informs about special events and introduces important people. Topics include: the Calwer Compagnie as an important economic factor in Württemberg, life and work of the world-famous pharmacist family Gärtner, the Calwer Ulrich Rülein and his most important book on mining and the rural world of the Calw Forest.
