Biberach's Fifth Season

First and foremost: Biberach's Schützenfest is not a traditional shooting festival, as the name might suggest. It is a historical children's and folk festival held every July, and is the highlight of the Biberach year. In Biberach the year is divided into "before the Schütza" and "after the Schütza."

The Schützen rose, Schützen love, Schützen sausage, Schützen dress and Schützen pastry are examples of how the festival is reflected in everyday life. Four large parades, two of which feature many historic floats, are flanked by unique festivities organised by individual groups.

For ten days, the entire town offers a vibrant program of historical and modern events. The festival features one of the oldest and largest children's theaters in Germany, the Schützentheater. In over 30 performances, young actors delight the audience with old and new fairy tales. The main square transforms into a dance hall multiple times during the "Dance through the Centuries" event and the dance for young and old with lively music.

First mentioned in 1650, the Biberach Schützenfest has evolved over centuries into a grand civic celebration that captivates the whole town and district.

A special feature is the traditional camp life of various historical cosplay groups on Gigelberg, including the imperial riders, Swedish artillerymen, farmers, and the Black Veri's band of robbers.

The festive atmosphere and the energy in the town cannot be put into words. It is best to experience it yourself in Biberach, at the robbers camp, where you can sit comfortably and enjoy the hustle and bustle.
