Adam's Castle

Adam's Castle stands right next to the stately mill, not far from the confluence of the Kirnau and Seckach rivers. It is located within the medieval fortifications in the castle district and was protected by ring walls, city gates, and defense towers.

The small castle was built in 1606 by Baron Adam von Adelsheim and Maria Felicitas Cremp von Freudenstein on the occasion of their marriage. The black and white painted shutters immediately catch the eye. They are reminiscent of the coat of arms of the von Adelsheim family: a black, vertical ibex horn with a cloverleaf-shaped lower end. Keep your eyes open and you will discover it several more times on your tour of Adelsheim!

For a long time, the small castle remained in the possession of the von Adelsheim family. In 1806, with the end of feudal rule, the building became state property and was used as the seat of various offices over the years. For this purpose, it was extended with an annex on the west side in 1818. After the Second World War, the building served as a youth club and clubhouse.

In 2006, the town of Adelsheim acquired the small castle. After careful renovation and conversion, it was ceremoniously opened as a cultural center in 2009. Today, visitors enjoy concerts, exhibitions, readings, and theater performances here.

The Adamsche Schlösschen combines the past and the present: a place where history is preserved and new things are created at the same time.
