Building No. 146

The area in the north of Sheridan Barracks, which had since been developed, housed only a solitary building, No. 146. Like the command headquarters, it also dated back to the days of the Wehrmacht. In use by the US Army, it was located far away and seemed like a forgotten outpost of the Cold War.

In the 1970s and 1980s, it was one of many barracks. These were accessed via a common corridor on each floor and had single rooms on both sides. The guard sergeant sat on the ground floor to ensure "good order and discipline."
